AC Schnitzer Lowers, Widens, And Boosts The Facelifted BMW X5 | Carscoops

The German tuner got its hands on the G05 BMW X5 as expected, adding more power to the diesel version

The BMW X5 received a mid-lifecycle update last year, prompting tuners to gradually update their aftermarket offerings for the German luxury SUV. AC Schnitzer now joins the fray with a revised body kit, a new set of 22-inch wheels, lowered suspension, and available power boosts for both petrol and diesel versions of the G05 X5.

Starting with the exterior, AC Schnitzer’s aerodynamic upgrades are compatible with the M Package, adding more sportiness into the mix. The kit includes a pronounced splitter at the front, deeper side skirts, and a large rear spoiler.

The most eye-catching feature is the new 22-inch AC5 alloy wheels, first introduced on AC Schnitzer’s BMW XM. The new wheels are available with different finishes.

The aggressive stance is further enhanced by a set of spacers that increase the front and rear tracks by 24 mm (0.9 inches). Furthermore, AC Schnitzer offers the option of lowering kits, as long as your X5 doesn’t come with air suspension from the factory. Depending on the trim, the SUV can get closer to the ground by 15-30 mm (0.6-1.2 inches), improving the aesthetics and the handling capabilities.

The interior improvements are more subtle, as is often the case with AC Schnitzer. The tuner’s input is limited to a new pair of aluminum gearshift paddles behind the steering wheel and aluminum covers for the pedals.

Last but not least, AC Schnitzer increases the power output of the BMW X5 xDrive40d. The diesel-powered SUV produces 377 hp (281 kW / 382 PS) and 780 Nm (575 lb-ft) of torque, representing an increase of 30 hp (22 kW / 30 PS) and 60 Nm (44 lb-ft) compared to the stock version.

Note that the tuner offers a power upgrade for the pre-facelifted BMW X5 45e xDrive PHEV, so we wouldn’t be surprised if more electrified variants of the SUV are added in the list sometime in the future. Finally, there is a modified engine cover for the six-cylinder units with AC Schnitzer lettering and red accents if you want bolder looks under the hood.

BMW X5 owners can acquire the desired components individually from the German tuner’s website.
