A House of the Dragon season 2 set photo seemingly shows a dragon head being carted through King's Landing, potentially hinting at a major spoiler.

The Game of Thrones prequel show based on George R.R. Martin's book, Fire & Blood, began filming its second season in early April. Shortly after, House of the Dragon season 2 announced its first new cast members, including Gayle Rankin as Alys Rivers, Simon Russell Beale as Ser Simon Strong, Freddie Fox as Ser Gwayne Hightower, and Abubakar Salim as Alyn of Hull.

As House of the Dragon season 2 continues filming, a slew of set photos have started to surface online. One of them, as shared by u/Outside_Slide_3218 on Reddit, shows a blue foam model punctured by iron bolts being carted through King's Landing, which will likely be digitally replaced with a dragon head in post-production. Based on the events described in Fire & Blood, which House of the Dragon has adapted faithfully so far, it will more than likely be the head of Meleys that is carted through King's Landing in season 2. Meleys is the dragon ridden by Princess Rhaenys Targaryen during the Dance of the Dragons.

If the show follows Fire & Blood faithfully, Meleys will meet her end in House of the Dragon season 2. When Rook's Rest, the seat of House Staunton, is besieged by Ser Criston Cole's army, Rhaenys rides her dragon to the castle to lend aid. Meleys is met with an onslaught of iron bolts along with Prince Aemond's Vhagar and King Aegon II's Sunfyre waiting to battle in the sky. One against two, Meleys doesn't stand a chance and her body is ripped to shreds as suffers a fatal fall, though her head is recovered and returned to King's Landing.

While it's always sad to see one of the magnificent beasts killed, the moment would improve one of House of the Dragon season 1's most controversial scenes. In episode 9, Rhaenys breaches the grand hall on Meleys during King Aegon II's coronation, killing hundreds of innocent bystanders in the process. It's only fitting for the smallfolk to celebrate as the head of the dragon that massacred them is paraded through the city. If House of the Dragon season 2 executes the Battle at Rook's Rest the subsequent scene well, it will be one of the biggest highlights of the season.
